A penetrating first coat.
- Up to 6 months of complete aggressive UV protection for the construction phase
- Enhances topcoat performance without extensive preparation
- Available in three tones: lightwood, fir and cedar
How we use it. Applied to timbers before they leave our shop for initial protection. We strongly suggest either the timbers be finished or receive another coat of Foundation within 2-3 months after the timber frame is assembled.
Notes.
- Foundation soaks into the wood and chemically bonds with it to provide UV protection and water repellence
- All our timbers are installed unseasoned. Foundation allows them to dry while protecting them
- Latex paints and acrylic finishes will trap moisture causing the topcoat to blister, crack, and peel as the moisture pushes outward as it dries
- We use this on exposed end grains such as on corbels and braces

One coat system that controls moisture movement in wood.
- Protective barrier for cross-cuts where the end grain is exposed
- Reduces warping, shrinking, and checking
How we use it. Applied to the ends of timbers.
Notes.
- End Seal provides protection to the timbers by reducing the warping, shrinking, and checking
- We use this on the ends of non-exposed end grains only.
Penetrating oil for timbers interior timbers
- Delivers a rich, uniform luster that protects and defines the wood color and character
- Can be diluted
- Environmentally friendly, low VOCs, high in solids
How we use it. Applied to our timbers as a finish top coat.
Notes.
- Deepens the natural wood color and protects it
- This is the only finish coat we apply when asked. If it's not included, the expectation is the customer will apply the finish coat to their timbers
- Must be sanded off if a different topcoat is to be applied
